Are You at Risk for TMJ?
If you have chronic jaw pain, it may be the result of an issue with your temporomandibular joint (TMJ), the joint that connects your jaw to your head. The disorder, often referred to as TMD, is fairly common but often arises without warning. Anyone can suffer from TMD and while the main cause is not yet known, there are several contributing factors that can create the need for TMJ treatment, such as:
- Teeth grinding (bruxism)
- Injury to the jaw or head
- Arthritis
- Clenching the teeth
